With over 20 years experience in arts education, Benton is a field expert on developing, training and facilitating highly effective curriculum that engages students through arts integration. Benton has developed long term relationships with community and arts institutions throughout New York City.

APOLLO THEATER EDUCATION
Apollo Theater Video Oral History Program
2009-Present
Students learn to connect with an annually chosen theme by capturing and documenting oral history interviews using video. Students then research and create a narrative to contextualize the interviews and finally edit the footage to make a documentary film. Past themes have included; Race and Identity, Overcoming Adversity and Activism against Injustice, among others.
LINCOLN CENTER THEATRE
High School & Shakespeare Programs
2008-Present
The High School Program provides pre- and post-show workshops that engage students in hands-on theater learning surrounding a mainstage production at LCT.
The Shakespeare Program immerses middle- and high-school students in the study and performance of a Shakespeare play.
REVOLUTIONARY FITNESS
Martial Mindfulness
An eight-week course combining still and movement-based meditation techniques with self-defense technique and endurance training. This course is offered on a sliding scale and centers the experiences of marginalized communities.
